Human Resource Advisors is a full-service Human Resources Consulting and Staffing company founded in 1988 by Barbara Freet.

In the beginning, Barbara was a successful Recruiter for independent insurance brokers. In response to the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1991, many brokerages began asking HR-related questions on behalf of their clients prompting her to expand her staffing business to also focus on more generalized human resources issues. What she found was a huge need for overall HR services in the small to mid-sized business niche. Since then focusing primarily in that niche has brought continuous growth in both products and services, as well as staff. Now, Human Resource Advisors has three regional offices and a continually growing professional team to serve our clients and candidates throughout the US.

Our highly-skilled Consultants serve as the HR department for our clients providing both “administrative” and “guardian” functions. The “administrative” function includes recruitment, new hire orientation, benefits administration, setting up compensation structures, managing vacation accruals, writing Employee Handbooks, managing payroll, etc. The “guardian” function is designed to keep clients out of trouble by applying both legal and practical solutions to their problematic employment issues. This has been a winning combination for our clients and has brought about continued growth and success.

Meet Our Team

Barbara specializes in consulting, product development, sales and training. Prior to founding HRA, she owned a recruiting and staffing company. She is sought out by professional groups and private employers as a guest speaker on a variety of employment-related topics.  She has a BA degree in Social Science and coursework toward an MBA.

Amy has over 16 years of HR consulting experience with an emphasis on compliance and best practices. Amy has been employee #1 for an Optometric practice tasked with setting up the facilities, hiring and managing all employees and participating in marketing the practice to the community. Amy authors some of our products and oversees several of our key services, particularly the handbook customization process for clients in every state.  Amy has a BA in Psychology.

Wendy has held upper management HR positions in a number of recognizable companies in high tech, wealth management and pharma, in addition to owning her own small business. Wendy specializes in the areas of strategic human resources work, complex employee relations issues, leaves of absences and training and has a very engaging personality which our clients appreciate. She has a BS in Psychology.

Sandra brings years of experience as the COO/VP of Human Resources for a large regional insurance brokerage. Prior to that position, Sandra worked in HR for high tech, marketing and management consultant firms. Sandra is our workers’ compensation specialist in addition to providing HR guidance. Sandra has a Masters in Human Resources and Organizational Development.

Marianne brings over 20 years of HR Generalist Management experience, ranging from large companies to start-up environments.  She gives wise advice to ensure compliance in company policies and procedures. Marianne has an Masters of Public Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources, and a BS in Human Services.

Marina has the distinction of bringing 20 years of HR manager-level experience specializing in hotel management to our group but also provides much needed bilingual interpreter and translation experience. Marina also provides onsite consulting for our clients with a Hispanic workforce.

Jani has extensive experience owning and managing her own restaurant before joining HRA. Jani provides payroll services for several of our clients who want to outsource their payroll function. Jani also handles all our accounting functions, manages our office resources, and brings excellent homemade treats to the office.
